Spring in My Garden
Daily wonder as
long-standing, deep rooted friends
surface to take their place
in the grand scheme of spring.
The emerging garden has been
weeded by time and the elements,
blessed by genetics and
old fashioned good luck.
Some plants have up and moved,
foxgloves here, bleeding hearts there.
Did they choose a better situation
or is happenstance our new garden designer?
Snow drops arch into life.
Late snow persuades them
back under ground
in a game of hide and seek.
Trucks bulge with fodder
to fulfill winter dreams....
